Orissa also known as Odisha is a state of India, located on the east coast of India, by the Bay of Bengal. It is the modern name of the ancient nation of Kalinga, which was invaded by the Indian Emperor Ashoka in 261 BC. The modern state of Orissa was established on 1 April 1936 as a province in British India, and consists, predominantly of Oriya speakers. 1 April is therefore celebrated as Utkal Divas (Orissa Day).
Orissa is the ninth largest state by area in India, and the eleventh largest by population. Odiya is the official and most widely spoken language. Odissa is subject to intense cyclones also known for its communal riots.

There are 542 Bible Study Groups and 2117 Baptized Believers. The believers are worshiping in 165 Worship Groups. There are 52 constructed churches.

The joy of suffering for Christ…
We have started our ministry in Buguda village in the month of April 2010 and our first missionary to this village is Bro.Budhadev Karji . Bro.Goura Sabar is the village head and his own brother Arjun Sabar is the Sarpanch of that Panchayat. Our worker visited this village for nearly seven months and shared the gospel. At first no one accepted the Gospel. The first man to accept Jesus is Mr. Ram Sabar who was a drunkard but left drinking after accepting Jesus Christ. Seeing his life the village head Bro,Goura Sabar along with his family came to the Lord. Those who accepted the Lord attended worship in the nearby village. One day we planned to have a prayer meeting in Buguda village, in the house of Goura Sabar. When we reached this village we found seven people blocking the road and did not allow us to enter into the village. They used vulgar language and threatened us not to enter into the village. They put a line before us and written "OMM" and told we should not go inside. We called our believers to a place outside the village. There we came to know that they have already beaten our first believer Bro.Ram Sabar and were planning to beat our worker also.  They said our God has suffered for us and we also have to suffer for Him. We were not afraid or discouraged rather were very strong in their faith. Please pray that we may inherit all the lost souls of that village for the Lord and establish a church in that village for the Glory of God.
