WEEKLY MARKET DAY CHANGED FROM SUNDAY TO FRIDAY

Valasaballeru is a small panchayat in Kurupam Mandal of Vizianagaram District, AP. The weekly market is held on every Sunday as this is a center for Jarada, Thitiri, Pedagothili and Valasaballeru  panchayats. Around 600 – 1500 people come to attend this market from 50 villages, walking miles carrying loads on head. Andhra Pradesh Government agency – Girijan Corporation and the merchants attend this market to buy the forest products and sell the commodities/essentials to these Sora and  Jatapu people. Barter system is also in practice.

The Girijan Corporation of AP and the local merchants called for a meeting on 20.5.2008 at Mondemkhal to decide the future of this weekly market. They experienced a sharp decline in attendance of people in weekly market at Valasaballeru. Not more than 100 people were attending. The reason is the villagers have turned to Lord Jesus Christ. Sunday is the day of worship. Everybody is preferring to church rather than market. The Girijan Corporation officials and the merchants have no other option but to change the weekly market day from Sunday to Friday. Praise God for He alone can change the lives and bring a difference. 80% of people here have accepted the Lord as their Saviour and God. From 1996 Vishwa Vani ministry is preaching the Gospel in this area.
K.D.Puram and Suludi panchayats are also experiencing the same problem. Pray for Gods mighty power to move all the Soura and Jatapu people to Christ.
